The P4PHM is a pressure group that represents a diverse Malaysian wildlife industry. With more than 3,000 members––including zoo & exhibition operators; commercial & home breeders; wildlife & pet traders and hobbyists––the P4PHM has forged unprecedented unity amongst Malaysian wildlife industry stakeholders.
The primary function of the P4PHM is to engage the NRE Ministry and relevant authorities over fairer enforcement of the new Wildlife Conservation Act 2010, Act 716, and relevant regulations. This was necessary after authorities confiscated––without warrant––animals from several zoos around the country between June and August 2011.
With every sector represented in the executive and working committees, the P4PHM is able to consider the implications of new laws, rules and regulations across an entire industry or within a specific sector. While other associations have only looked into its own interests, the P4PHM is the only association that has highlighted pertinent industry-wide issues in order protect the rights of all its member stakeholders, including hobbyists.
